880 Feet of 8-Foot Industrial Metal Fencing in Kansas City, KS: Corrugated Metal on Galvanized Steel Posts

An industrial metal fence now encloses a commercial property in Kansas City, Kansas: about 880 linear feet of 8-foot corrugated metal sheeting on 2½-inch galvanized steel posts set in concrete. Cascade Outdoor Services built it for a longtime client whose other properties we have also fenced. Two motorized cantilever gates with keypad access are next. Each will span an opening of about 30 feet.

What did Cascade build on this industrial property?

A solid, 8-foot perimeter fence about 880 feet long, close to 900 feet of continuous corrugated metal. The fence line is complete. The two gates that will control access are the final phase and are being installed next.

Why corrugated metal sheeting for an industrial perimeter?

Corrugated metal sheeting forms a solid, continuous wall rather than an open mesh, so the property is screened from view along the whole run. The ribbed profile gives the sheeting its stiffness across each section. On an 8-foot fence that runs nearly 900 feet, it makes a clean, uniform perimeter for a working industrial site.

Why 2½-inch galvanized steel posts set in concrete?

An 8-foot solid fence catches a lot of wind, and the posts carry all of it. This fence stands on 2½-inch galvanized steel posts, and every one is set in concrete.

  • Galvanized steel: the zinc coating protects the steel against rust
  • Set in concrete: anchors each post so the full-height panels stay plumb and secure
  • Consistent all the way around: the same post and footing on every section of the 880-foot run

Why does the fence need to be 8 feet tall?

The city required it for this property. Commercial and industrial fence height is usually set by local code and the property’s use. Knowing that number before the first post goes in avoids rework. Cascade built the entire perimeter to the 8-foot requirement.

What comes next: motorized cantilever gates with keypad access

The last phase is two cantilever gates, each covering an opening of about 30 feet. A cantilever gate slides sideways on rollers mounted to posts beside the opening. A counterbalance section extends past the opening, so no track or wheels cross the driveway.

  • A clear 30-foot opening for trucks and equipment, with no ground track to drive over
  • No swing arc, so the space inside and outside the gate stays usable
  • Motorized operation: each gate opens and closes under power
  • Keypad access: authorized users enter a code to open and close the gate

We’ll add photos of the gates to this post once they’re installed.

How did the fence installation come together?

The crew prepped the site and cleared old broken concrete along the fence line so it could run straight. They set the 2½-inch galvanized steel posts in concrete along the full run, then hung the corrugated metal sheeting to finish the 8-foot wall.

Frequently asked questions

What did Cascade Outdoor Services build in Kansas City, KS?

An industrial metal fence: about 880 linear feet of 8-foot corrugated metal sheeting on 2½-inch galvanized steel posts set in concrete, for a longtime commercial client. Two motorized cantilever gates with keypad access, each covering an opening of about 30 feet, are being installed next.

What is the fence made of?

The panels are corrugated metal sheeting. They are mounted on 2½-inch galvanized steel posts, and every post is set in concrete.

Why is the fence 8 feet tall?

The city required an 8-foot fence for this property, so Cascade built the full perimeter to that height. Required commercial fence height depends on the city and the property, so confirm it before a project is planned.

What is a cantilever gate?

A cantilever gate is a sliding gate that rolls on rollers mounted to posts beside the opening. Part of the frame extends past the opening as a counterbalance, so no track or wheels cross the driveway and the full opening stays clear.

How will the gates open and close?

Both gates will be motorized, with a keypad at each one. Authorized users enter a code at the keypad to open and close the gate.

Does Cascade install commercial fencing outside Johnson County?
